PUMA Premieres NASA-Themed "Space Explorer" CELL Alien and RS-X Pack
Otherworldly designs for Apollo 11’s 50th anniversary.
NASA continues to surprise us with new collaborations ahead of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. From recreating a LEGO version of Apollo 11’s Eagle lunar module, to a commemorative OMEGA watch, a number of brands are pulling out the stops to celebrate the historic event. Now, PUMA has revealed its upcoming partnership with the agency dubbed the “Space Explorer” pack, revamping the CELL Alien and RS-X models.
The chunky CELL Alien gets a galaxy-led look, with a predominately black colorway accented with holographic details and star-like speckles along the midsole. On the flip side, the sleek RS-X takes a lighter approach in a mainly gray and white colorway, while incorporating NASA’s color scheme with red and blue accents. The footwear also includes hints of reflective silver throughout the upper, adding a futuristic slant to the overall design.
The NASA x PUMA “Space Explorer” pack is expected to hit retailers like Overkill on July 20th in conjunction with Apollo 11’s anniversary.
Nike also celebrated the anniversary by releasing Paul George’s PG 3 “NASA” in “White/Gold” earlier this year.
