PUMA has teamed up with London-based Nigerian artist SOLDIER, also known as Leonard Iheagwam, to reinterpret its iconic Suede silhouette through a deeply personal exploration of cultural identity, memory and heritage.
Created to coincide with the artist’s recent New York solo exhibition, Reveal Yourself, Softly, the limited-edition sneaker incorporates imagery drawn from SOLDIER’s personal archive alongside his signature camouflage motif. The design translates elements of his multidisciplinary practice into wearable form, bridging the worlds of contemporary art and streetwear.
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, SOLDIER has developed a distinct visual language rooted in personal history, military iconography and found imagery. His work frequently examines themes of identity, collective memory and the lasting influence of colonial histories, transforming familiar symbols into layered compositions that challenge their original meanings.
