Def Jam Celebrates 35th Anniversary With PUMA Clyde Court Collab Sneaker
The first of a year-long partnership.
PUMA and Def Jam are celebrating the prolific record label’s 35th anniversary with a collaborative Clyde Court iteration — the debut release from the two iconic brands’ year-long partnership.
Dipped in a regal shade of burgundy, the timeless basketball silhouette is crafted with a knit upper and features an ankle-enveloping sock collar. With tonal laces and eyelets extending to the panel, the visible lace keeper stretches from the throat to the tongue, ending with a pull tab that’s embellished with Def Jam’s record player emblem. A golden Def Jam logo can be found stamped on the heel along with a “1984” print on the heel tab, finally resting on a transparent gum sole for comfort.
“Since hip-hop’s early b-boy days, PUMA has been a staple in the culture – bringing freshness to the basketball court and style to the block party. We’re proud to celebrate Def Jam’s 35th anniversary in partnership with PUMA,” Paul Rosenberg, Chairman and CEO of Def Jam Recordings said. PUMA North America’s VP of Marketing Allison Giorgio also added, “We’re thrilled to be collaborating with such an iconic brand. Def Jam is a legendary label in hip-hop and so much of what we do as a brand, particularly in basketball, is rooted in culture and music. Bringing together two brands with so much history and heritage just made a lot of sense.”
The Def Jam x PUMA Clyde Court will receive a wide launch on August 28 at puma.com and select PUMA locations.
