Pharrell Williams & Chad Hugo Come Together for Clarence Avant Tribute 'Letter to My Godfather'
From the soundtrack of Netflix’s ‘The Black Godfather.’
Netflix has released a new documentary called The Black Godfather, highlight behind-the-scenes legend Clarence Avant, an icon in the music industry for black artists, helping several popular musicians get deal as early as the 40s.
Produced by his daughter Nicole and directed by House Party auteur Reginald Hudlin, the documentary showcases the likes of Barack Obama, Jamie Foxx, Quincy Jones, and more praising Avant’s accomplishments while Pharrell sang an ode to the legend. The film’s soundtrack will feature the song with Neptunes‘ partner Chad Hugo‘s production work. The six-minute song sees Pharrell crooning over synths, guitars, and an Auto-Tuned voice unlike any NERD or Neptune track before.
