While the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept GMT Tourbillon made the best use of AP’s white ceramic material — the contemporary watch is often enjoyed by celebrities and sports stars alike — many purists thought the Concept too far a stretch to bear the Royal Oak name.
In comes the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar in white ceramic; it holds most of the character traits that fans have loved for decades, it’s equipped with a (newish) robust movement that carries a perpetual calendar and moon phase complication, and features the same lightweight and scratch resistant material.
Complimenting the energetic and fresh 41mm case/bracelet is an elegant blue dial with AP’s “Grande Tapisserie” pattern and gold and silver indexes. Again, it’s Audemars Piguet’s aventurine moon phase indicator that steals the show. With laser microstructured detailing, the moon and sky appear in 3D to take on a realistic appearance.
This watch will be available in extremely limited quantity with a price tag close to $95,000 USD.
