Spike Lee Previews New Jordan Mars 270 Designed by His Son
Blending retro design cues with new Nike technology.

Spike Lee‘s relationship with Nike stretches all the way back to ‘89 when we saw fresh Jordans gracing the pavement of New York’s Brooklyn neighborhood in Do The Right Thing. It’s become more evident lately that this affinity for Jordans runs deep in the family as the oscar-winning director pointed to a new Jordan Mars 270 that his son Jackson Lewis Lee designed.
The sneaker comes stacked with retro design motifs atop new materials and a 270 Air unit sole. Comprised of leather, the upper collar comes with a distinctive heel pull marked by thin rubber streaks at the edge. Branding is placed at the tongue while a “MARS” side tab is placed at the sides. Just below it lies a large netted lace cage, covering the majority of the Swoosh logo. The midsole is complete with a ridged mudguard, angular panels and icy gum bottoms, finished off with a large 270 Air unit at the heel — giving the retro-tinged footwear piece a futuristic touch.
Though no official dates have been confirmed, the Jordan Mars 270 is expected to release in colorways “White/Reflective,” “Silver/Fire” and “Red/Black” on July 1. Stay tuned for more information on the upcoming drop.
