Buju Banton Drops Video for First New Song in Seven Years, "Country For Sale"
The reggae legend has been free since last December.
Back in December of 2018, Buju Banton regained his status as a free man after completing a seven-year sentence at a prison in the United States. Having returned to his home-country of Jamaica following the aforementioned penitentiary stint, the beloved reggae artist debuted his first new track and single since the beginning of his bid, “Country For Sale,” earlier this month. Continuing to support that record and shifting the focus away from his legal troubles and back to his musical output, the 45-year-old is serving up an official video for “Country For Sale.” Although it’s only a lyrics-based offering, Banton’s new clip for “Country For Sale” is notable for being his first visual release since regaining his freedom.
You can take a look at Buju Banton’s new visual for “Country For Sale” above, and stay tuned for more from the reggae veteran. Banton has yet to reveal any more details concerning his next round of releases.
Banton was initially arrested in 2009 in Miami for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking and was later convicted and sentenced to a decade in prison in 2011 on charges of conspiracy to distribute and possession of more than five kilograms of cocaine. His last official studio album and full-length project was the 10-song LP Before the Dawn, which dropped in 2010.
