Shura has returned with a new sultry, synth and string-filled love song titled “BKLYNLDN.” The Manchester-native’s new single incorporates a slowed-down tempo, utilizing harmonized vocals to help fill out the track’s unique atmosphere, offering us a promising idea of what’s to come for her new album — expected to drop later this year.

The new video, directed by Woman’s Hour’s Fiona Jane Burgess, was inspired in part by Auguste Rodin’s seminal work The Kiss, which showcases a nude couple embracing one another. This fits well with the tonality of the artist’s lyricism, who recently noted in an interview with Billboard the meaning behind the new track: “With ‘BKLYNLDN’ I wanted to explore having both a sonic and lyrical evolution, It’s about desire — playing with the idea of it being all consuming and at times overwhelming.”
