Back in January, Nike announced that it would be replacing Under Armour as the MLB‘s official uniform supplier. To close out 2019, the sportswear company has just unveiled the first game-ready results of its new collaboration with images of jerseys for all 30 teams. The uniforms still represent the classic graphics of each team, but include a new embroidered patch for the Nike Swoosh and a woven label on the jock tag.
“We’re excited to kick off our partnership with Major League Baseball with the unveil of next season’s uniforms,” says Hal Melhart, Sr. Product Line Manager for Nike Diamond. “Each franchise has a deeply personal history, with a visual identity that continues in this update. In the future, we look forward to preserving this integrity while still bringing more of Nike’s creativity to uniform designs, as we build energy around the game for its players and its fans.”
Nike and MLB’s contract will last for the next 10 years, and the new jerseys are set to be worn on-field during the upcoming 2020 MLB season. Prior to the deal, Nike already represented over 500 MLB players, including Mike Trout, Giancarlo Stanton, George Spring, Joe Ramirez and more, so the partnership began with a strong foundation to work with.
