New Balance and Preduce Revamp Numeric Silhouettes With Thai Pillow Patterns
The 255 & 659 sport maroon, blue and white colorways with gold accents.
For the first time ever, New Balance‘s Numeric skateboarding line is teaming up with Thai skate brand Preduce for a collaborative pack comprised of two shoes. Growing up skating in the ’90s, Preduce riders wanted to revive the concept of “having one pair of shoes to skate and one to chill after the session.” The “Thai Pillow Pack,” which consists of Numeric’s 255 and 659 models, effortlessly blends skate aesthetics with elements of Thai culture and heritage.
Paying close attention to detail, New Balance and Preduce emblazon the insoles with gold-hued co-branding, while laces are offered in three different colorways with contrasting “Preduce” branding found on the metal aglets. The shoes mark New Balance Numeric’s debut collaboration with a Thai brand, so Preduce appropriately stays true to its Thai heritage by bringing design elements of the triangular cushion -— commonly used in Thailand for support or sitting on the floor —- to street-ready skate shoes.
Drawing inspiration from the prints and colors found on traditional Thai triangle pillows, the brands update both the everyday skate and lifestyle shoes with premium suede and leather in bold maroon, blue and white. Specifically, the 255 boasts a clean, color-blocked upper with a gold stripe down the heel. Its more casual counterpart is informed by breathable perforated mesh; the relaxed 659 silhouette also features an intricate gold elephant pattern around the upper, further referencing the pillows.

Releasing December 12, the collaborative 255 will be sold on Preduce’s web store, New Balance’s website, at the physical Preduce boutique and at select skate shops in Asia and the U.S. Limited to 100 pairs worldwide, the 659 will drop exclusively on Preduce’s site and Bangkok store on December 14.
New Balance has continued to roll out graphic-laden sneaker partnerships, with END. Clothing introducing its 997 “Persian Rug.”
