adidas Celebrates Chinese New Year With UltraBOOST 20 Collection
Featuring lotus flower embroidery, koi fish imagery and more.

Last month, adidas officially launched the latest model of its popular UltraBOOST line, the new UltraBOOST 20. As the year comes to an end, adidas is crafting three different UltraBoost 20 sneakers along with three UltraBoost DNA iterations to celebrate Chinese New Year, which for 2020 is on January 25. Boasting a black upper and midsole with gold Three Stripes, the first iteration of the UB 20 sneaker will drop this Sunday.
Like other sneakers in the Chinese New Year collection, the UltraBOOST 20 features a lotus flower print inspired by Chinese cultural references. Purple and pink flowers are embroidered on the Primeknit upper and tongue, thus elevating the shoe with textural variety. The floral print patterns continue to cover the midsole, which provides adidas’ signature soft cushioning. A ridged knit pattern surrounds the toebox, framing the flowers and giving the overall design added depth.
Like previous UltraBOOST releases, the outsole sports a red plastic torsion shank, while black Continental rubber discs allow the white BOOST to show through. As the rest of the collection drops over the holiday season, adidas will continue to showcase Chinese-inspired imagery, such as tiger, koi fish and crane depictions, on its UltraBOOST models.
Take a closer look at the first UB 20 of the “Chinese New Year Collection” to drop in the gallery above. Retailing for $159 USD, the sneaker will be available to purchase on adidas.com, Sneakersnstuff’s website and at adidas’ in-store locations beginning December 15.
In related news, adidas released the UltraBOOST 20 in a “Core Black” colorway that nods to the line’s genesis.
