Japanese luxury imprint PRINCIPE PRIVÉ has handled press and rollout events for brands that include TAG Heuer, Bandai and adidas Originals, occasionally hosting its own drops of unique luxury goods and bespoke sneakers. The brand’s latest creation is a hand-painted sacai x Nike Blazer Mid designed to appear as though it’s covered in rust.

Inspired by the concept of aging sneakers made of metal, PRINCIPE PRIVÉ recruited skilled artists to remix the shoes, stripping the covetable kicks of their famed color. A raw off-white and silver base is applied to represent oxidied metal, with delicate coats of paint applied to key areas of the shoe to create a realistic impression of rust buildup. Atop the signature doubled-up Swooshes and midsoles, the colors take on a three-dimensional depth, with certain parts of the shoe scraped and distressed to further the believable aesthetic. Thanks to the acrylic-blend paint utilized in the design, the colors won’t run or transfer to clothing.

Expect orders for the sacai x Nike Blazer Mid “Rust” shoes to launch this week via Principe Privet’s web store and Harajuku outpost for ¥121,000 JPY (approximately $1,110 USD), with online orders followed by a wait time of approximately 45-120 days to account for the hand-applied detailing.

With the last sacai partnership manifesting last month, Nike’s collaborative efforts now turn to another bespoke Travis Scott Air Force 1.
