‘Maradona in Mexico’ arrives this month.
Following the Diego Maradona documentary that screened out of competition at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, the footballing legend has now been tagged by streaming giant Netflix for his own docuseries.
Dubbed Maradona in Mexico, the series will spotlight the great Maradona as he heads to Culiacán, the heart of the Sinaloa Cartel, to “save the local team, the Dorados, and maybe himself, too,” reads an official synopsis from Netflix. The Argentinian World Cup-winning football star started coaching the Mexican football club back in September of 2018, however had to step down due to health issues. During his two seasons with the club, Maradona guided them to two consecutive league finals. Before he joined, the club was near the bottom of the standings.
