Hennessey Performance Tunes the Chevrolet Camaro to 1,200 Horsepower
Almost double the standard output.
John Hennessey has created yet another beast for the 2019 SEMA show, one-upping his 2017 840-horsepower Exorcist with a fully tuned Hennessey Resurrection ZL1 1LE Camaro.
In true Hennessey Performance fashion, the Camaro’s standard 650-horsepower LT4 V8 engine was ripped out and replaced with an LT5 from a Corvette ZR1 which, at stock, pushed out 755. However, being the expert tuners they are, almost all the components of the LT5 were upgraded, resulting in a monster engine capable of pushing 1,200 horsepower and 1,000 ft-lb of torque. With the help of a strengthened six-speed manual transmission or 10-speed automatic gearbox, the Resurrection can make 0-60 mph in just 2.3 seconds.
“We’ve built several 1,200 horsepower C7 ZR1 Corvettes, so we knew we could deliver this same power level in the ZL1 1LE, but we just needed a cool name to fit the car,” says Hennessey. “The Resurrection seemed to be the perfect evolution of The Exorcist, which was a name that was ultimately inspired by the Dodge Demon.”
For those interested, the Hennessey Resurrection ZL1 1LE Camaro will be available at select Chevrolet dealers, going for $200,000 USD. Only 24 will be made, so act fast. Otherwise, head over to the company’s site to learn more.
