Jordan Brand is back with the highly-touted third installment of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Shattered Backboard,” a series that pays homage to Michael Jordan’s 1985 tremendous dunk when he shattered the glass backboard during a Nike exhibition game in Italy. The third version of the shoe, the recently released “Shattered Backboard 3.0,” is available now at Stadium Goods along with three other earlier versions of the sneaker.
The first version of the Air Jordan Retro High OG “Shattered Backboard” was released in 2015 with a high quality tumbled leather and black toe-box in the original hightop silhouette of the Air Jordan 1, sporting an orange, black and white colorway inspired by the team uniform MJ wore during that 1985 game. The Air Jordan Retro High OG “Reverse Shattered Backboard” dropped in 2016 as the first follow up to the original shoe, essentially flipping the color blocking of the first iteration to feature more orange and less black on the leather paneling. Next came the Air Jordan Retro High OG “Satin Shattered Backboard,” which was released exclusively for women in 2018. This version incorporated the leather paneling into the upper of the sneaker and blended the material with orange satin on the heel and toe. Finally, the most recent release, the Air Jordan Retro High OG “Shattered Backboard 3.0” updates the construction with a black crinkled glossy patent leather. To round out the shoe, a black leather wings logo sits near the collar, black glossy leather hits the mid-panel, toe and ankle collar and orange glossy leather adds bursts of color to the outsole. Finally, a pale vanilla rubber sole gives the sneaker a wonderfully worn finish.
