Eminem and Joyner Lucas Are Surrounded by Copycats in "Lucky You" Video
Tethered together by a comedic interlude.
Eminem recently dropped his surprise album Kamikaze, calling out a ton of hip-hop figures and critics following his negatively received Revival album last year. Among the fired shots is an album with a platform for upcoming artists Jessie Reyes and Joyner Lucas - the latter is featured in Em’s new video “Lucky You,” showcasing his ability to spit.
In the footage above, we see both artists on the edges of a worn-down city, perhaps due to the same plane that’s seen on the album cover. As they’re rapping they noticing all these shadowy hoodie figures mimicking every move they make, which leads to a humorous moment halfway through the album. But the moment is also supposed to express the overall theme of the record; this generations rapper’s utilizing what the old guard of hip-hop created while simultaneously disregarding its legacy and lyricism.
