There’s a lot of expectations for Virgil Abloh as he prepares to debut his menswear collection for Louis Vuitton. Spring/Summer 2019 is looking very promising for the luxury label as Abloh has taken some strategic steps teasing his range on social media. Not too long ago, we saw him sketching some sneaker designs as well as showing some new clothing and accessories. Recently, fans got a full view of his first sneaker and Takashi Murakami joined in on the fun as he was captured applying his drawings on some Louis Vuitton luggage.
Now, LV and Abloh are taking things up a notch in terms of previews. With the recently launched IGTV by Instagram — a new platform allowing long-form videos — the fashion community can now see some exclusive behind-the-scenes clips of Mr. Abloh at work. As one of the first creatives to use the IGTV feature, the mini-documentary sees Virgil styling models, brainstorming with his team, taking interviews and preparing his Met Gala outfit.
All-in-all, it looks like the refreshed Louis Vuitton menswear division is in busy hands and the lead up to LV’s SS19 show is well worth the wait. Take a look at the video above and stay tuned with us when Vuitton’s presentation begins to unfold.
If you haven’t heard, Virgil Abloh also did a monogram-less trunk for the luxury label.
