Uber Test Driver was Watching Hulu When Self-Driving Car Crashed
She was streaming ‘The Voice.’

As the investigation into the fatal self-driving crash back in March continues, it has now emerged that the Uber test driver in the vehicle was streaming The Voice on Hulu up to the moment of the crash. The local police force in Tempe, Arizona now bieves that the accident could have been avoided had the test driver in question been paying attention, contradicting the initial belief that the crash was almost unavoidable.
According to records from the driver’s Hulu account, she had been watching The Voice for around 42 minutes before the crash took place. Despite this revelation, it is still not clear if the police will decide to charge the test driver. The incident led to Uber being suspended from operating self-driving cars in Arizona and launching an in-depth safety review.
In other Uber news, the company may soon offer cheaper rides for people willing to wait longer.
