Kojima Productions Drops the First Trailer for ‘DEATH STRANDING ISOLATIONS’
The anime expands Hideo Kojima’s universe with a new cast, hand-drawn visuals and a story set after Sam reconnects North America.
Summary
Death Stranding Isolations has dropped its first teaser trailer.
The anime follows a new girl and other original characters living in Sam Bridges’ reconnected world.
The Disney+ series premieres in 2027.
“My mom became a crater.” With that bleak declaration, DEATH STRANDING ISOLATIONS offers its first proper look at the animated world expanding beyond Hideo Kojima’s games. The newly released teaser trailer shifts attention away from Sam Bridges and toward an unnamed young girl who lost her mother to the Death Stranding, leaving her to grow accustomed to a life of isolation.
Rendered in E&H production’s hand-drawn 2D style, the footage moves through desolate North American landscapes and glimpses of the new characters whose lives will eventually intersect: a boy consumed by anger, a female soldier trapped in a cycle of conflict and an older man seeking his own way of connecting people. The girl remains the emotional center of the preview, with an unexpected encounter seemingly pulling her away from the solitary existence she has chosen and into a much larger journey.
First announced at the Disney+ Originals Preview in Hong Kong in November 2025, DEATH STRANDING ISOLATIONS is set immediately after Sam reconnects North America through the Chiral Network, exploring the unforeseen consequences of bringing a fractured society back together. Hideo Kojima serves as executive producer, with Takayuki Sano directing and Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 artist Ilya Kuvshinov providing original character designs; the latest update also confirms Mardock Scramble author Tow Ubukata as series composition and screenplay writer.
