Idris Elba to Direct, Score & Star in 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' Netflix Adaptation
A true jack of all trades.
In recent months, Idris Elba has received attention and acclaim for Yardie, his debut as a director. For the next stage of his career, the Molly’s Game superstar is teaming up with Netflix for a contemporary rework of the classic The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
For Netflix’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Elba will again assume the role of director. A modern jack of all trades, he will also star in the movie, serve as one of its producers — as part of his Green Door production outfit — and help craft its soundtrack. Decorated writer and director Michael Mitnick — known for The Giver and other efforts – has been enlisted to create the screenplay for the film, which is based on French novelist Victor Hugo’s beloved 1831 book.
You can expect more official details concerning Idris Elba and Netflix’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame to emerge in the coming months.
Besides this project, Netflix is also working with Simpsons legend Matt Groening for Disenchantment.
