'Molly's Game' Is a High Stakes Poker Thriller Starring Jessica Chastain & Idris Elba
Based on the real-life story of gambling mastermind, Molly Bloom.
Acclaimed screenwriter Aaron Sorkin is making his directorial debut with his forthcoming Molly’s Game motion picture. The STXfilms-distributed movie is based on the real-life story of Molly Bloom—a former world-class skier who became an illegal gambling tycoon. Actress Jessica Chastain helms the role of Bloom, portraying the mastermind behind an underground high-stakes poker location—dubbed The Cobra Lounge in Los Angeles—that attracted a slew of A-list celebrities.
The recently-released trailer depicts Chastain meeting with a powerful criminal defense lawyer played by Idris Elba. A slew of flashback sequences follows, showing Chastain’s transformation from a struggling waitress into the head honcho of the gambling ring. Not to mention, Michael Cera, Brian d’Arcy James, Chris O’Dowd, Bill Camp, Graham Greene, Claire Rankin and Kevin Costner also star in the film.
