Complex has dropped a new documentary that explores the connection between Ralph Lauren and hip-hop. Titled Horse Power: Hip-Hop’s Impact on Polo Ralph Lauren, the video features appearances and commentary from Big Boi, Raekwon, Tyson Beckford, Just Blaze, 2 Chainz, A$AP Ferg, Dapper Dan, Retch, Thirstin Howl the 3rd and some of the other original Lo-Life crew members and more. “ Rounding out the presentation: a soundtrack cooked up by Thelonious Martin.
“Our culture is based on taking things that aren’t meant for us or weren’t intended for us and making it ours,” Just Blaze explains. As one of the piece’s other subjects puts it: “Polo is a great sort of metaphor for the American Dream … this is what the American Dream wears.”
