'God of War' Gets an Official Release Date and New Trailer
With a myriad of “special editions” to choose from.
Papa Kratos’ upcoming father-son Nordic adventure is set to debut exclusively on PlayStation 4 on April 20, Sony announced today. Sony Interactive Entertainment and God of War creative director Cory Barlog announced the release date of the title on the PlayStation Blog alongside a new plot-centric trailer and description:
Living as a man outside the shadow of the gods, Kratos must adapt to unfamiliar lands, unexpected threats, and a second chance at being a father. Together with his son Atreus, the pair will venture into the brutal Norse wilds and fight to fulfill a deeply personal quest.
Barlog also stated that the release date for the rebooted franchise is “my favorite release day of my entire career. If I live to be 100, I do not think I will be able to top this release day.”
Like most AAA titles, the game will include a myriad of special editions. These options will include a digital deluxe edition for $69.99 USD, which features a digital art books and in-game items; a $129.99 USD collectors editions with a nine-inch statue of Kratos and Atreus, a cloth map and a SteelBook case; and the “Stone Mason” edition, which costs $149.99 USD and includes more collectables in the form of keychains, rings, and more.
