Brenda Equihua is a fledgling fashion designer from Southern California who aims to produce garments that reflect her Mexican American roots under the label, EQUIHUA.

The high-end imprint’s latest collection, entitled “New Classics,” is largely comprised of outerwear that draws inspiration from San Marcos cobras—blankets that Equihua describes as a “timeless housed item.” She adds: “Their prevalence in homes and their distinct character, make them uniquely familiar and comforting items for Chicanx [sic] people across the country.” Collectively, the range features an intricate range of handcrafted outerwear that was cut and designed by Equihua herself. Standout pieces include the “Ave Maria” coat, “Rose from Concrete” hoodie, and “Pray for em” zip front puffer.

View the lookbook above and visit EQUIHUA’s official website to purchase pieces from the collection. Prices range from approximately $165 USD to $325 USD.
