'Grisha's Guide to Kiev' Uniquely Examines Ukrainian Culture & Fashion
Get schooled on Ukrainian fashion and history alike.
In recent years, New Jersey-raised, Los Angeles-based visual artist Jordan Blady has amassed a pretty impressive resume as a director, having crafted a variety of short films, documentaries and music videos. Reconnecting with Nowness, the rising talent delivers a unique look at the fashion of Ukraine’s capital city of Kiev for his latest presentation.
Billed as an “offbeat adventure into Kiev’s emerging creative scene,” Grisha’s Guide to Kiev injects some much-needed humor into the all-too-serious, sometimes pretentious global fashion scene. Utilizing clothing from Ukrainian label Ksenia Schnaider, Blady aims to give the audience a “fashion film” that doesn’t fit in with the traditional approach to the genre. “It felt good to not only focus on Kiev’s emerging fashion talent, but also some of its rich culture and history, all of which inspired this project,” says Blady.
