Japan Gets Medicinal With New Cough Drop Flavored Kit Kat
Complete with real throat lozenge powder.

Japan specializes in bizarre Kit Kat flavors and this latest development proves no exception to that rule — coming in a limited edition cough drop flavor. The Kit Kat Nodo Ame Aji uses 2.1% throat lozenge powder in every serving, meaning it will actually have some use as a cough drop as well as a chocolate.
The packaging features an image of Yasutaro Matsuki, a former footballer turned commentator, who’s known for enthusiastically reporting on games. The official reasoning behind both Matsuki’s usage and the Kit Kat itself is that it will soothe the throats of Japan football team supporters who are cheering their team on. The limited edition release will be available from now until September 10, costing 140 yen (roughly $1.28 USD) from local Japanese convenience stores.
The last unique flavored Kit Kat Japan created was the Green Tea edition.
