Last night’s episode of Game of Thrones is still popping up in conversations around the water cooler, due in large part of its epic frozen lake battle scene. The episode saw Jon Snow and his group of “merry men” — Jorah, the Hound, Beric and Tormund — head “Beyond the Wall” to capture a wight in hopes that Cersei will join forces with them to destroy the Night King and his army. Of course things didn’t go as planned and Jon and co. found themselves in the midst of what is probably the biggest battle scene of the series thus far, maybe even beating out last year’s “Battle of Bastards.”

Released shortly after the episode by HBO, the frozen lake battle gets a behind-the-scenes look. Filmed between Belfast, Northern Ireland and the ethereal planes of Iceland, take a look at what goes into an epic episode such at this.

Game of Thrones returns this Sunday, August 27 for its season finale. Check out the promo here. And if you’ve missed it, GoT‘s eighth season gets a tentative filming date, revealed by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
