Eric Koston Skates Copenhagen in Honor of Nike SB & Soulland's Collab
“FRI.day.”
Nike SB has a storied collaborative history and its latest co-branded drop is undoubtedly one of its best to date. Dubbed “FRI.day,” the recent release saw the Swoosh’s skate-centric imprint teaming up with Denmark’s Soulland for a capsule collection inspired by skating’s care-free attitude and the sense of liberation that accompanies the weekend; “FRI.day” not only evokes Saturday’s precursor — “fri” means “freedom” in Danish. And who handled modeling duties for the collab’s stylish lookbook? None other than skate legend Eric Koston.
So, to celebrate the “FRI.day” launch, Nike SB and Soulland tapped Koston himself for a special skate vid, sending the California-based professional to Soulland’s own stomping grounds in Copenhagen to capture the sense of freedom that characterizes the Danish capital. Koston isn’t the only one who turns up in the vid, though. Directed by Soulland’s own co-founder Silas Adler and filmmaker Simon Weyhe, the eight-and-a-half-minute-edit includes not only Koston’s technical wizardry, but solid parts from Hjalte Halberg, Karsten Kleppan, Hugo Boserup, Ville Wester and Oskar Rozenberg, too.
