Converse Modernizes Its Vintage Auckland Runner With Nike Technologies
A model “rooted in the brand’s partnerships with elite athletes and coaches during the 1970s and ‘80s.”

With Converse just recently launching its new All Star Modern Collection, the iconic footwear company looks to build on its impressive “old-meets-new” offerings with the Auckland Modern model. The sneaker, as well as the brand, are steeped in running sport history and wanted to honor the past by highlighting simplicity and functionality in the design. Constructed using Nike’s Hyperfuse innovation, the pair is made from breathable split knit uppers that are lightweight, comfortable and durable. They come in a variety of versatile colorways such as blue, red, green, navy and black, while the special edition inaugural pair saw collaborative design elements from Nike’s elite HTM.
