Buffer, the new label led by creative director Tetsu Nishiyama, has partnered with Converse on a collection built around a black All Star Hi printed with “BOMBING” graphics. The capsule pairs the high-top with a compact run of apparel and accessories, all developed from the visual noise of the street and filtered through Buffer’s own design sensibility.
The footwear is the clear centerpiece. Converse’s All Star Hi arrives in a black base, giving the “BOMBING” print a dark backdrop that lets the graphic read loud and clear. Rather than introducing a new silhouette or reworked construction, the collaboration keeps the high-top’s familiar profile intact and lets surface graphics do the heavy lifting, treating the shoe as a blank wall ready to be marked up.
That graphic language comes from a specific set of references. Buffer pulled from the imagery a teenager might absorb on the walk home from school: spray-painted tags left on walls, storefront and street-corner signs, and the printed packaging of everyday products picked up without a second thought. The label then remixed that material into its own compositions, turning incidental clutter into deliberate design.
The rest of the collection extends the same idea across a wider range of formats.
