Dunks, Kobes, KDs, LeBrons and soon possibly Air Jordan 1s: these are the Nikes that have all seen a “What The…” edition of its popular silhouettes. But what about other sneakers companies? With the exception of the ASICS GEL-Lyte III “Homage” release by Ronnie Fieg, it’s rare to see another sneaker company do a “mash” sneaker where every single panel is a retro recreation of its past releases. Illustrator Cloakwork however has presented us with just that; a “what if” of sorts for competing sneaker companies and a mash-up sneaker that would result. If Japanese label visvim decided to go the cuckoo route; if Jeremy Scott took his eccentric design skills to an even higher plateau; and if Vans went away from its traditions, what would these shoes look like? Check out the extraordinary renderings above and check out Cloakwork’s art over at his official Instagram for more.
