A Holographic Karl Lagerfeld Covers the 15th Anniversary Issue of 'AnOther Magazine'
Limited to just 1,000 handcrafted copies of the magazine.
Last year, AnOther Magazine released a special LED cover of Rihanna for its Spring/Summer 2015 issue. Now, in celebration of its 15th anniversary, the publication is one-upping itself in the form of a holographic Karl Lagerfeld for the cover of its commemorative issue. Conceived by co-founder Jefferson Hack, the creation was done by holographer Rob Munday and immortalizes the iconic Chanel designer in three dimensions thanks to an innovative camera set-up and the use of 50 individual high-resolution images. The images were then interlaced into one special image that was then printed and laminated on the back of a lenticular lens. Said Munday:
Karl once said ‘you should never stay still, neither in life, nor in fashion, nor in photography,’ and he rarely looks back. He was particularly happy to see that the picture of his beloved cat Choupette, inlaid into his stunning diamond encrusted tie pin, was crystal clear in the 3D image, a feature that I have preserved in the final lenticular by intentionally positioning the tie pin on the surface of the lens. Look out for Choupette!
Limited to just 1,000 copies, the collectible holographic cover — accompanied by a Susannah Frankel-penned 30-page Lagerfeld profile and Colin Dodgson-shot Chanel editorial — is available now at Selfridges, colette, Werhaus, Do You Read Me, Magalleria, Ideas on Paper, Papercut, Boutique Mags and Magazine Brighton while a supersized portrait of the hologram is on display now at colette in Paris.
