ASOS is a UK-based e-commerce website and one of the most visited fashion websites in the world launched in 2000 by Nick Robertson. Operating purely online (there are no brick and mortar stores), ASOS sells clothes and beauty items targeted at those in their twenties. ASOS now sells over 80,000 branded and in-house products, epitomizing omni-channel retailing with both web and mobile shopping options.
Fulfilment centers are located in the UK, US as well as Europe and China, shipping to over 200 countries in the world. The website has nine local sites, and amasses over 20 million unique views per month, with peak months reaching nearly 100 million views. There are over 9.1 million active customers, with over 56% of products purchased outside of the UK. In 2014, ASOS recorded $1.5 billion USD in sales. Apart from operating as an e-commerce site, ASOS also acts as a fashion blog with a monthly magazine, aiming to serve as a source for fashion inspiration and content for young people as well. In September 2015, Robertson stepped down from his role as CEO and was replaced by its COO, Nick Beighton.
