JiyongKim's AW25 Embodies Its Experimental Ethos
Featuring a foray into non-sun-bleached performance wear.

Jiyong Kim‘s namesake label remains in its own lane. Revered for its striking sun-bleached designs and structural silhouettes, JiyongKim continues to embark on its captivating creative conquest as a label, expanding its vision beyond solely sun-bleaching and moving more into performance-prioritizing pieces and beginning to push the needle on its womenswear.
Marked by its expansive lineup of non-sun-bleached items, the collection also comes complete with a Kolon Sports collaboration, which comes fully equipped with proper GORE-TEX protection.
When Kim sat down with Hypebeast for Hypebeast Magazine Issue 33: The Systems Issue, the designer explained that he first encountered sun-bleaching – a technique incredibly untapped by other labels – while walking through Seoul’s fabric markets when he stumbled upon a trench coat marinating in the sunlight for months.
“No one else thought these pieces were beautiful, and they’d just throw them away. But I liked the imperfections and didn’t want to see them fixed,” he said at the time.
In the Fall/Winter 2025 range, different garments revel in different washes, something Kim explained in the Systems interview.
“As the fabric keeps moving in tandem with the sun-bleaching, it creates a layered, contrasting effect. Depending on if we hang the fabric or put it on the ground, it will have a different texture, too.”
