EGONLAB FW25 Incites a Witch Hunt
Designers Florentin Glémarec and Kévin Nompeix’s latest cuts address themes of struggle, perseverance and sorcery by twisting fashion traditions.
EGONLAB Fall/Winter 2025 collection, “S4LEM,” plunges into a world of witch hunts. Galvanized by the historical Salem Witch Trials, the outspoken fashion label, led by Florentin Glémarec and Kévin Nompeix, creates a metaphor to denounce the exclusionary mechanisms in today’s society; so, instead of sorcery, the collection targets attacks on minorities and marginalized voices.
The line tackles themes of struggle and resilience by manipulating otherwise traditional materials, silhouettes and textures. Denim trousers enlist a “wet effect,” made possible by an induction technique akin to melted wax; dented and cracked buttons adorn formals and outerwear, while belts wrap the body across atypical routes, illustrating restraint.
Witchy elements trickle into the collection’s details: bat flowers, also known as witch flowers, appear on workwear coats and avant-garde gowns as voluminous leather fringes, and the Ouroboros serpent, a symbol of rebirth, embeds itself in the line’s color story: brown, black and purple, with notes of powdery pink, light beige and blood red throughout. Hair, meanwhile, becomes the backbone for accessories, holding together pearl necklaces, representing the close bond between humans and their clothing.
Notably, the line included a rockstar capsule with Zadig&Voltaire, housing leather tops and trousers with vintage studs. Thierry Gillier, Zadig&Voltaire’s founder, said, “When I discovered EGONLAB, I immediately saw the potential synergies between our two identities. We share that free-spirited, rebellious mindset.
