Korg Revives the Handy Trax With New Portable Record Players
Now renamed as Handytraxx.
Korg has reimagined the legendary Handy Trax portable turntable, launching the Handytraxx series in collaboration with the late Toshihide Nakama, co-creator of the original design. The new lineup features three distinct models targeting different segments of the vinyl market: the Handytraxx Play, Handytraxx Tube and Handytraxx 1bit.
Designed for DJs, the Handytraxx Play offers professional-grade features including a crossfader, EQ and filter controls, delay effects and a built-in audio looper. The turntable’s reversible control panel accommodates both left- and right-handed users, while built-in 2.5-watt speakers and versatile power options (AC adapter or six AA batteries) ensure flexibility.
Audiophiles will appreciate the Handytraxx Tube, which leverages Korg’s Nutube vacuum tube technology to deliver rich, warm sound signatures. A die-cast aluminum platter and adjustable tonearm guarantee precise playback. A limited edition Tube J model further elevates the experience with an upgraded JICO Clipper MM Cartridge.
The flagship Handytraxx 1bit targets archivists and audio preservationists. Utilizing Korg’s AudioGate 4 software, this model captures vinyl in Direct Stream Digital (DSD) format at 5.6 million samples per second, ensuring archival-quality sound reproduction. Advanced features include a universal tonearm, interchangeable headshell and Nutube technology.
Unifying the collection, all Handytraxx models offer portability, built-in speakers and battery-powered operation. The lineup is set to launch in May 2025, with the Tube J following in June. Preorders are now available on their webstore.
