ABAGA VELLI’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, “Mercii: What A Beautiful Coup,” is a seamless fusion of jazz-inspired artistry and contemporary menswear innovation. Guided by the creative vision of Nehimiah Hamsat-Ali and the bold design direction of Mohsin Ali, the London-based brand redefines fashion boundaries with a collection as richly layered as the musical genre it honors.
The collection takes inspiration from the intricate rhythms of jazz music and the concept of “lost music,” reflecting these themes through detailed textures, thoughtful color choices and dynamic silhouettes. As Nehimiah explains, jazz is “layered with rhythms” that come together to create a harmonious whole and this idea is woven into every aspect of the collection.
Rich tones like ink, dark navy and French navy are juxtaposed with warm camel, vibrant freesia and pale blue to create a sophisticated and visually striking palette. The tailoring pays homage to the iconic ‘90s Armani silhouette, embracing relaxed elegance with wide, draped shirts and trousers. These softer, deconstructed styles bring a contemporary twist to classic menswear, offering a fresh yet timeless approach to fashion.
