Varg²™'s 'Nordic Flora Series, Pt. 6: Outlaw Music' Explores an Electric Wilderness

Following a handful of singles served up across the start of 2024, Swedish EDM pioneer Varg²™ has delivered Nordic Flora Series, Pt. 6: Outlaw Music, a 14-track album that serves as the magnum opus and conclusion of his Nordic Flora Series project, which began in 2016. Loaded with features, including peers from YEAR0001, the album traverses highs and lows, exploring everything from Varg²™’s manic tempos to his carefully-crafted ambient soundscapes.

After setting a serene scene with Golin on “Venom of Ages,” Rx Papi’s piercing delivery strikes alongside muted percussion on “Heaven Bound Blue Magic.” Though its the lead single “Hitty,” featuring Thaiboy Digital, that finds itself fully immersed in the club anthem production that Varg²™ often embraces. Later on, “Lucky” with Eartheater and Earth channels the project’s outlaw spirit before “Pose1don” dives into a harsh melancholy with angelic vocals from Joon Gloom and eerie production contributions from Yung Sherman and Woesum. Drain Gang’s Bladee and Ecco2k team up once again by gliding across the powerful tempo brought forth on “H2D,” with the two joining Varg²™ for a Hendrik Schneider-directed music video that sees them anxiously cruise across a highway at night. At the project’s conclusion with “Skenet,” Ecco2k makes another appearance, shifting to a gentle delivery in Swedish as the instrumental trails off into the void.
