Update: After being spotted on the feet of King James, the Nike Air Max 1 ‘86 “Air Max Day” has been officially unveiled by the Swoosh ahead of its release later this month. Its “Sport Royal”-inspired arrangement succeeds 2014’s “Air Max Day” pair that similarly utilized “Volt” detailing at the midsole of the OG “University Red” colorway. Release remains anticipated for Air Max Day (March 26) via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a price of $160 USD. For more info about the pair, be sure to check out our initial breakdown from the beginning of the month below.

Original Story: March is here, and for Nike, that means that Air Max Day is just around the corner. The annual celebration of the brand’s signature technology is being held for the 10th time this year, with the Air Max Dn serving as this year’s new silhouette that is being introduced. On top of this, there’s many more releases planned, including a special Air Max 1 ‘86 “Air Max Day” that has been revealed by LeBron James.

Revisiting the classic “Sport Royal” blue, this unique pair serves as a sequel to 2014’s Nike Air Max 1 “Air Max Day” that saw the “University Red” colorway reimagined with neon green detailing and special branding. These same elements are present with this year’s take as the blue, white and grey upper are contrasted by “Volt” at the midsole and at the lining of the tongue. As for the celebratory detail, the “3.26” callout returns to the tongue in “Sport Royal” to complete this early preview of the pair.

At the time of writing, we’re still awaiting confirmation from Nike that this “Air Max Day” version of the Air Max 1 ‘86 will be releasing this month. However, it is currently expected to drop on Air Max Day (March 26) via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a starting price of $160 USD.
