Building on its Fall/Winter 2023 output, streetwear imprint Slam Jam and English sportswear purveyor Umbro have reunited for the next installment in their football-inspired line, “Penalty Culture.”

Designed by Slam Jam for Umbro, the line sees the former label inject its subcultural design language into the latter brand’s classic football jerseys while platforming Umbro’s distinctive “Double Diamond” sports iconography.

In a stealthy campaign, unidentifiable models confiscate the collection’s hero items, while wearing new iterations of the collaborators’ famed masked hoodie, which features an integrated face shield. In addition to the hooded sweater, the line’s notable pieces include a masked check anorak, a purple gradient football shirt, a jersey referencing England’s 2006 Home kit, game-day scarves and Umbro-branded socks.

Galvanized by the football pitch, the range’s moniker nods directly to the sport’s high-pressure penalty kicks, which glue fans to the field in the knockout phase of a game. “Whether the final result is a victory or a defeat, penalty shootouts allow an intimate moment to be shared in which everyone hopes for the same thing: a victory,” the brands previously explained of the collection’s inspiration. “Precisely for this reason — and especially after a defeat — football is a sport that allows for unity on and off the pitch.”

The Slam Jam x Umbro “Penalty Culture” collection is now available to shop on Slam Jam’s webstore and at select retailers globally. Take a closer look at the range in the gallery above.
