If you thought last year’s Nike Air Max 90 G for the PGA Tour‘s Waste Management Phoenix Open was bold, that was nothing compared to the newly surfaced AM Pegasus 89 G. In golf, the Phoenix Open has a reputation as the rowdiest tournament of the year, taking place during Super Bowl weekend, so it’s only natural to honor the tournament with a shoe that’s equally colorful.

Using Nike’s new Air Max Pegasus 89 G as its canvas, the kicks sport an upcycled look with fraying at the Swoosh and the appearance of crumpled plastic, paying homage to the tournament sponsor’s mission to reduce waste. A translucent plastic-like material forms the base of the shoe under which a variety of color tones can be seen, bringing a garbage landfill to mind. The Swooshes, meanwhile, evoke metallic silver foil and are finished with pink contrast stitching, and a “Take Out The Trash” slogan is featured on the tongues and insoles. Underfoot, the shoes’ spikeless traction pattern is decorated with the same pattern that shows through on the toe box.

Although a release date for the pair is not yet known, the Phoenix Open kicks off on February 8, so look out for a drop anywhere in the next few weeks on Nike’s website.
