Apple Is Reportedly Gearing Up To Take On ChatGPT With Its Own AI Chatbot
Building its own machine learning framework for the project.
Apple has its own version of ChatGPT in the works, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The tech industry insider reported that the company’s engineers have begun developing an AI chatbot that’s been internally nicknamed “Apple GPT.”
For the project, Apple has built its own framework to create large language models, similar to what OpenAI did for its own bot and Google for Bard, Gurman reported, citing people with knowledge of the matter.
Apple has reportedly dubbed the framework “Ajax” and is running it on Google Cloud. The framework takes its name from Google’s JAX, the machine learning computer program used to build it.
Ajax will apparently provide the bases for Apple’s own version of the AI chatbot. Few details are known about the project, but it’s expected that Apple will share more about its AI efforts next year.
