IKEA is peering back into the ’70s and ’80s design with the reveal of its second Nytillverkad collection.

By bridging past and present, the forthcoming collection marks a fusion of vivid shades, shapes and textiles. From chairs to rugs, light fixtures and more, the collection is just as versatile as it is fun. Highlights of the offering include the Niels Gammelgaard-designed SKÅLBODA armchair and JÄRLÅSA side table. From larger holes for less material use to foldable construction details, the pieces have been fused with a number of new aspects.

“At IKEA, we’re proud of our heritage and want to celebrate it by bringing back some of our most iconic designs while integrating the latest technology and materials,” said Johan Ejdemo, IKEA’s Global Design Manager. “The Nytillverkad collection blends classic designs with modern standards and it is all about simplicity, functionality, bold expression and playfulness – just like IKEA!”

IKEA’s second Nytillverkad collection is slated for global release in October 2023 online and at retail locations.

In other news, Studio Pesca opens its creative hub Spazio Pesca in Milan.
