Update: Excitement surrounding the return of the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 “Chlorophyll” has been stirring for many months. Now, the duo has officially announced the release, celebrating not only it being 15 years since its original drop, but the 20th anniversary of Patta as well. Staying true to its predecessor, only a few changes have been made. While the same fabric has been used, the sockliner has gone from the Dutch Guilder design to a €20 EUR bill while arriving in a new thematic box. “With this release, we stick to the essence of the shoe, which really stands the test of time. It’s just an amazing moment to bring back a shoe that’s so coveted, that’s so loved by the sneaker community and the community at large,” shares Patta co-founder Guillaume “Gee” Schmidt. Release begins on September 13 via a special PattaxNike website, as well as Patta chapter stores, at a price of $160 USD. Early in-store access will also be taking place on September 12 via Patta’s new Lagos, Nigeria storefront.
Update: Earlier this month, Patta’s co-founders teased the possible return of the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 “Chlorophyll” by wearing fresh pairs on Instagram. Since then, release details regarding the rumored project arrived alongside an in-hand look at the sneaker. While limited to one image, the preview confirms many of its key details have been faithfully recreated — including the “Chlorophyll”-colored denim mudguard and Swooshes, as well as its supporting colors of gray at the textile and nubuck overlays and white at the textile base. From there, a white midsole with a hint of green within the window of the Air unit is also back. While neither Patta nor Nike have confirmed the launch details, it is currently expected to drop this September via the two brands at a price of $160 USD.
Update: It’s been eight months since word of Patta and Nike presenting another Air Max 1 for 2024 first popped up. Since then, the duo produced their running-themed collection that featured the new hybrid Air Huarache 20Y24. Now, we finally have an update regarding the Air Max 1 rumor as Patta’s co-founders took to Instagram to tease a potential reissue of their legendary Air Max 1 “Chlorophyll” from 2009 for Patta’s 5th anniversary, with both of them rocking fresh pairs of the shoe. In addition to the kicks, the “Green and White for the win” caption draws more attention to them while Tems is spotted holding what is presumably a 20th anniversary shoe box, a milestone Patta is celebrating this year. While we lack any confirmation of the project involving the “Chlorophyll” look outside of this teaser, it’s not out of the question as Nike has continued to revisit sneaker grails. Stay tuned for updates as we await more info.

Original Story: Patta and Nike boast one of the most storied partnerships in collaborative footwear history, and rumor has it that they’ll be adding a new chapter to that partnership in 2024. Per a report from Air Max fan page (and former Sole Mates guest) Bubblekoppe, another Patta x Nike Air Max 1 is set to release in 2024.
If this early report does indeed hold true, the latest Patta Air Max will have quite a legacy to live up to. The Amsterdam-based boutique first collaborated on the model in 2009 with the now-iconic “Chlorophyll,” which was quickly followed by the “Purple Denim” and the darker-toned “Denim,” all released in celebration of its fifth anniversary. Patta and Nike then stretched the anniversary celebrations into 2010 with the Air Max 1 “Lucky Green” and the Patta x Parra x Nike Air Max 1 “Cherrywood,” an ultra-rare, Amsterdam-inspired silhouette of which less than 300 pairs were made. More recently, Patta revisited the Air Max 1 in 2021 and 2022 with its six-pair “The Wave” collection, which boasted wavy mudguards across “Monarch,” “Aqua Noise,” “Rush Maroon,” “Black,” “Dark Russet” and “White” colorways.
Little is known is known about the rumored 2024 Air Max 1 release at the time of writing, other than that it’ll supposedly be touching down sometime next fall. Keep it locked to Hypebeast for updates as they’re made available.
