Update: Following a preview of the range last week, Nike has stepped in to share its latest collection celebrating Día de Muertos. Titled “Con Mi Familia” (With My Family), it pays homage to family ties by honing in on the memories shared between the dead and the living. Its four-pack of footwear features the Air Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT 2, Dunk Low, Air Max 1 and Blazer Mid as discussed below. Release begins today, October 18, for Nike Members in Mexico and will be followed by a global release on October 21 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers.

Original Story: The holiday season nears as one celebration is scheduled after another. From the Mexican celebration of Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) at the start of November to Chinese New Year festivities in early 2024, Nike has plenty of thematic sneakers on the way. Looking closer at the former for 2023, four sneakers have been prepared under the “Día de Muertos” collection for 2023.

Following up on last year’s “Somos Familia” offering, the Air Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT 2, Dunk Low, Air Max 1 and Blazer Mid have all been redesigned with Día de Muertos in mind. Starting with the Air Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT 2, it sees black and gold go back and forth across the flower-covered shoe with a skull motif used at both the lateral heel and sockliner. As for the Dunk Low, the marigold flower serves as the key point of inspiration with a similar approach to the lateral heel’s embroidery accompanied by a textured upper that combines black and gold hues. Looking to the Air Max 1’s contribution, pink covers the upper with additional vibrant coloring offered via the thematic embroidery found throughout the sneaker. Rounding things out with the Blazer Mid, a much calmer presentation has been prepared with golden crescent embroidery at the heel paired with white, gold and black detailing that blends across the shoe.

At the time of writing, Nike has revealed release details for just two of the four “Día de Muertos” colorways. Both the Nike Dunk Low and Air Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT 2 are scheduled to land on shelves on October 21 via the SNKRS app at prices of $125 USD and $165 USD respectively. Stay tuned for updates regarding the release of the Air Max 1 and Blazer Mid as they’re likely to join the other two looks in releasing this month.
