One admirable tradition of Nike is that it never overlooks cultural celebrations. With the start of November coming up, the brand has taken the initiative to highlight the forthcoming Día de Muertos festivities by revealing a special collection that celebrates the annual Mexican commemoration. Four silhouettes alongside matching apparel items are integrated into this capsule, all of which lean into the “Somos Familia” motif which describes the unbreakable bond of families and memories.

Nike ushers in the Dunk High, the Air Force 1 ’07, the Air Max 1 and the Air Jordan 1 Zoom Comfort models for this new range. Each pair is accessorized with intricate details that reflect the ofrenda — an altar where those who celebrate place offerings such as candles, salt, pan de muerto (bread of the dead) and water to guide their deceased loved ones back home. It’s also an example of the Swoosh’s Global Express Lane (GEL), which is a category that zeroes in on crafting footwear and apparel based on the insights from worldwide destinations and its locals on sneaker culture. Dropping alongisde the sneakers are various apparel pieces such as tees, a work jacket, a polo shirt and more that are also styled with festive designs.

Nike’s “Somos Familia” collection is slated to launch on October 22.
