Netflix Games Reportedly Planning To Release 'Grand Theft Auto' Title
As the streamer attempts to attract more subscribers.

A new Grand Theft Auto game could be making its way on to Netflix Games.
According to reports, the title will not be the highly-anticipated GTA VI but most likely a mobile game spinoff, as smartphone gaming is currently the only method to access Netflix Games. The service recently acquired several game development studios and is in the midst of discussing a GTA game via a licensing deal with Take-Two Interactive, the gaming franchise’s publisher.
An analyst further tells the Wall Street Journal that Netflix has spent a whopping $1 billion USD on games so far and will most likely expand their gaming service to AAA titles as they look to hire for more game executives. It remains to be seen if this move will attract more subscribers, however.
Meanwhile, Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games‘ GTA VI is suspected to release some time between April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick previously shared in a CNBC interview that they “have a very robust pipeline of titles” and are expecting “a great outlook for fiscal 2025” where they could generate around $8 billion USD in net bookings. GTA VI could be the title that will give them just that.
Elsewhere in gaming, Minecraft is officially the best-selling video game of all time.
