First Gohar World Store Opens in Soho, NYC

Sisters Laila and Nadia Gohar have brought their dreamy visions to life in the effervescent Gohar World – and now, the once virtual-only whimsical world, described as a “dream place where adults wear lace bibs, cauliflowers are candles, and every plate comes with beans,” has officially laid down roots in downtown New York City.
Designed by Rafael Prieto, Gohar World is home to the collective’s 2023 holiday collection, which expands the Gohar World universe in more witty, wearable ways, among a bevy of archival pieces from previous collections, and other one-of-a-kind vintage finds. The interior is covered in custom-layered wallpaper of photos Prieto captured while in the South of France.
“Because Laila and Nadia work with ateliers all over the world, from Egypt to Italy, Gohar World is inherently a brand that transports you to different places. Sometimes, even to your grandmother’s living room,” Prieto says in a statement. “So, my idea when designing the store was to transport visitors to another world.”
“We’re excited to invite everyone into our little planet in person, and experience all our objects in real life,” Gohar World shared in an Instagram caption. “Rafael is a long-time Gohar World friend and collaborator who just felt like a natural fit for the store. His work focuses on preserving culture through remnants of the past, which naturally ties into Gohar World’s values of honoring tradition and craft.”

Gohar World’s Table IV holiday collection was shot at NYC hotspot Corner Bar and features new linens, wearables, and signature dinnerware. The collection also spotlights a collab with Champagne Lallier on a limited-edition range including ornate Mother of Pearl spoons, and will launch on Gohar World’s online store on October 24 at 10 a.m. EST.
Elsewhere in the design space, Aēsop’s new Hollywood Road flagship is a wellness oasis in the middle of Hong Kong.
