Apple Reportedly Hires Lamborghini Executive To Develop Electric Car
Luigi Taraborrelli worked on the Urus, Aventador and more during his time at the company.
Apple has hired a former Lamborghini executive to helm its long-rumored electric car, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The reported hire, Luigi Taraborrelli, spent 20 years at the luxury automotive company and was most recently its head of chassis and vehicle dynamics.
Taraborrelli joins Apple’s EV team as one of its most senior managers, thanks to his years of experience, Gurman reported. While at Lamborghini, he worked on the development of models including the Urus, Huracan and Aventador, alongside some concept cars.
Gurman noted that Apple hired a former longtime employee of Ford and the former chief of carmaker Canoo earlier this year, as well as the former chief of autopilot at Tesla.
As it builds out an accomplished team for its forthcoming EV, which first sparked rumors in 2014, Gurman reported that the tech company is currently eyeing a 2025 release date for the car.
