The Weeknd Becomes Sixth Solo Artist To Earn Three Diamond Singles
As “Blinding Lights” and “Starboy” were officially certified diamond by the RIAA.
The Weeknd is officially only the sixth solo artist with three diamond singles as “Blinding Lights” and “Starboy” were certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The diamond certification confirms that both singles have sold at least 10 million units in the US; as stated on the RIAA website, “Starboy” has officially sold 11 million units in the US as of April 5, achieving this feat in a span of six years. Meanwhile, “Blinding Lights,” which appeared on After Hours, has sold 10 million units and is now platinum after only two years.
The XO Records head also recently released a music video for his Dawn FM cut “Out of Time,” which featured Jim Carrey and Squid Game star/model Jung Ho-yeon.
Elsewhere in music, Mike Dean apologized to BTS after launching criticism.
